This Indian red rice is an ancient staple of the southeastern coast of
India. This region has been growing this rice for hundreds of years. The
rice has a warm burgundy color and a distinct nutty quality. This rice falls
into the catagory of brown rices, with the bran still intact. Therefore,
this is not a quick cooking rice. It will take sixty minutes to cook fully.
Use a broth or fume to impart additional flavor.
Pilaf, steamed, salads and stuffings are great uses for this healthy rice.
